David went and comforted his wife Bathsheba. And when he slept with
her, they conceived a son. When he was born they named him Solomon. 2 Samuel 12:24 (TM)
Most people have heard of wise King Solomon, but few people stop to realize that Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba. While David continually faced the consequences of his sin (vs 11) with Bathsheba, God’s forgiveness was sure (vs 14) and the marriage of David and Bathsheba produced the one who would become heir to his throne and one of the most rich, wise and powerful kings in history. It’s an illustration of God’s grace in the midst of our own messy, sinful lives.
