Chapter-a-Day 2 Samuel 11

They laid siege to Rabbah, but David stayed in Jerusalem. 2 Samuel 11:1 (TM)

Sin often catches us when we’re not where we’re supposed to be; it traps us when we’re not doing what we’re called to do. David had always led from the front, but now he sends his army out to the field and stays back in his palace, where he has plenty of time on his hands and spots Bathsheba bathing on the roof next door. Often, the avoiding of sin begins with being in the right places, doing the right things so that you avoid tempting situations.
