Chapter-a-Day Exodus 6

HandicapMoses answered God, "Look—the Israelites won’t even listen to me. How do you expect Pharaoh to? And besides, I stutter." Exodus 6:12 (TM)

It is just like God to choose a person despite his or her obvious flaws. In fact, it’s a theme throughout all the stories of the Bible. Here’s just a few – perhaps you can think of another and add it in a comment:

  • Rahab was an unacceptable gentile – and a prostitute
  • David was anointed king though he was the runt of the family – just a boy; then an adulterer a conspirator, and a murderer
  • Esther was just a young girl
  • Matthew was a Roman sympathizer, an extortionist, and he liked to party like it’s 1999.
  • Paul could put conspirator and murderer on his list – he also had problems with his eyes

We keep hearing Moses reminding God of his flaws, but you get the sense that God isn’t concerned in the least about Moses flaws – only his faith, willingness and potential.

What is it in your character, your past, or your physical make-up that keeps you on the sidelines, believing God couldn’t possibly use you?

Quit it.
