Chapter-a-Day Genesis 12

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1 (NLT)

A faith journey always requires that you leave something behind.

  1. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.

This story is a familiar one. Christians everywhere like to focus on the leaving that Tom mentioned, and the blessing Abram would receive. Today, I noticed the next phrase, “you will be a blessing to others”. So often when challenged with change, we humans look into how WE will benefit from said change. Will taking this risk of moving across the country increase blessing upon my family? Will we be even more financially secure? Will I be more happy with my job? On the contrary, how about asking if God is leading you to this place at this time to bless someone else? To offer your gifts to a church family in a different community? It’s a twist I don’t remember reading.
