Saturday night was opening night for Pella Shakespeare Company’s production of Much Ado About Nothing. Amazingly, it was cold, blustery conditions fitting early Winter. It had rained off and on all day and we headed out to Howell Station Campground at Lake Red Rock with doubts that anyone would come out in this weather to see Shakespeare.
To our amazement, people came – and then more came. People bundled up in blankets and jackets. They kept coming from the RVs and tents sprinkled around the campground. Cars poured in from town. One couple brought their 11 day old baby! In all, there were almost 130 people who attended in the chilly wind, and by the end of the 90 minute production we still had almost 70 of them.
Huzzah!
