"Esther, just as she was, won the admiration of everyone who saw her." Esther 2:15b (MSG)
Growing up, I noticed that there was this intangible quality to certain individuals. These people had the "favor" of others. It was similar to how Esther is described in today's chapter. I couldn't put my finger on anything that these people did to earn the favor of others. They didn't work for it. They didn't even ask for it. There was just something about them that people liked.
A few years ago I walked into a client's call center. One of the Customer Service Representatives stopped me and said, "We always love it when you visit. Everyone is in a better mood when you're around." I couldn't have asked for a nicer compliment, but I also don't think it was really about me. I believe that God grants us favor with certain people at certain times in order to accomplish his purpose. When you are given the special, unlooked for gift of a person's favor, you are given the greatest opportunity to make a positive difference in his or her life.
God, grant me favor with you and with others, that I might make a little difference in someone's life today.
