"The Road Goes Ever On and On," says Bilbo Baggins’ rhyme in Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings. Wendy and I finished listening to the entire trilogy on CD yesterday and those words struck me as we made the 11.5 hour journey from Pella to Colorado Springs. Truly, I-80 through Nebraska and I-76 through eastern Colorado seem to go on and on and on and on and on.

Nevertheless, we had fair weather and journey went without a hitch. There were only minor delays from accidents and road construction. We arrived at our friends, Brett and Micki, house after stopping for a leisurely dinner at P.F. Changs followed by an after dinner coffee at Starbucks. Brett and Micki are on staff with the Navigator’s here in Colorado Springs and it was wonderful to catch up with them last night.

Today, we get to spend time with more friends in Colorado Springs and try to get Taylor rested and ready for dropping her off tomorrow!
