To Life!

A year ago, Wendy and I were scrambling to finish construction on the Playhouse. Several friends took time to pitch in, drive down, and give of their time, talent, and energy to make it happen. This summer has been a time of enjoying the fruit of our labor. Wendy and I have made sure that those who participated in the work have an opportunity to participate in the fun.

This past week our friend Matthew brought his two teen daughters down for the weekend. The spirit of the weekend was established early on when I asked on of his girls what she wanted to do that weekend.

“I want to do it ALL!” she said.

And so, from mid-day (when teenagers wake up) until late night we were busy living full and playing hard. There was boating, waverunning, swimming, tubing, skiing, playing games and watching movies. In between we made sure to enjoy plenty of feasting. There was also a generous dose of great conversation and, as always, laughter.

As part of the festivities, Matthew brought with him a ten year old bottle of Cabernet that he’d been saving for a special occasion. It exploded with aroma and flavor, perfectly complimenting the weekend.

“L’chaim,” Matthew said as he raised his glass in a toast at dinner.

“To Life.”

Indeed.
