Of Chill, Cold, and Couch Potatoes

There is a distinct chill in the air. I’ve got my flannel pajamas and a sweat shirt on as I sit at my desk this morning. And, I’m fighting a losing battle against my first head cold of the year. Ugh.

It was nice to have Madison home this weekend, though we didn’t see much of her. She was back to attend a friends’ wedding and to celebrate an anniversary, of sorts, with her boyfriend. Taylor was involved in the wedding, too. There was a retro theme to the nuptials, and Taylor had rented what looked like a 1950’s prom dress for her duties as personal attendant. She looked gorgeous, as did Madison. Interestingly enough, Madison came home from the wedding wearing Taylor’s dress. Odd.

Wendy and I had big plans for getting some projects done around the house this weekend, but her nasty headache on Saturday and my fledgling cold pretty much knocked us for a loop. I did get the garage door opener fixed and new weather stripping on the garage doors – but that was about as far as I got before I ran out of gas. Fortunately, it was a good weekend for being couch potatoes.

  • We said good-bye to our beloved Chicago Cubs for another disappointing season as we watched their final two games of 2010. Hey, there’s always next year!
  • We were proud of Paul Rhoads and the Cyclones for their “I can’t believe the Cyclones scored 52 points” victory over Texas Tech.
  • We loved watching the Hawkeyes take it to Penn State in the midst of Kinnick Stadium’s color coordinated crowd.

We finished the weekend with a quiet evening on the couch with the VLs, enjoying conversation and keeping one eye on the Bears game. It had been way too long since our last Sunday evening get-together!

A chilly Monday morning. My head feels like a bowling ball. Welcome to the week.

  1. Ahhhhhh, what are sisters for? 🙂

  2. I was tired of wearing an itchy dress all day, so Madison was kind enough to switch clothes with me for the last two hours of the wedding haha.
