This is the testimony in
essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son. So, whoever
has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life. I John 5:11-12 (TM)

As a professional communicator, I’m constantly reminding myself to get to the crux of the matter, speak it clearly, and not belabor the point. When I’m preparing to speak, I often start with the question, "What’s the one thing I’m trying to communicate?"

John does such a great job of succinctly trimming the Message down to its essence, and speaking the core of Christian faith in two brief sentences. If anyone asks "what do you believe?", I would do well to simply recite I John 5:11-12.
