Chapter-a-Day 1 Corinthians 15

Sin_guilt_and_deathBut now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! 1 Corinthians 15:57 (TM)

My experiences have taught me that there are three things that truly haunt people:

  • The agony of knowing the right thing to do, yet being enslaved to our willful wrong choices
  • The ball-and-chain of guilt and shame that comes from mistakes, wrong choices and their lingering consequences
  • The sobering reality that death awaits us all

Jesus came to free us from that which haunts us. All you have to do is believe.

  1. It’s resurrection, resurrection, always resurrection, that undergirds what I do and say, the way I live. If there’s no resurrection, “We eat, we drink, the next day we die,” and that’s all there is to it. But don’t fool yourselves.
This is sooooooo true. The hope and promise of salvation is why I live the way I do. I used to think that living for God may be in vain because we couldn’t truly know that OUR religion was the right one. That hasn’t changed, but I now know that it is less about religion and all about FAITH. I praise God for this gift.
