Chapter-a-Day Exodus 39

The_honey_do_listThe Israelites completed all the work, just as God had commanded. Moses saw that they had done all the work and done it exactly as God had commanded. Moses blessed them. Exodus 39:42-42 (TM)

A month or so ago, Wendy made a list of projects around the house that needed to be completed. It was a long list. If you’re like me, there are a number of half-finished projects sitting around. Things that began with the best of intentions, but pootered out because of distrations or lack of interest. I’d like to say, "I don’t have time," but when I start thinking about the hours I spend in the evenings vegging out in front of the television I realize that’s just a cop out. I have the time, I need to be productive with it.

So, for the past few weekends Wendy and I have been making our way through the list. The new hall light is installed. The kitchen counters and backsplash are redone. The storm windows are out of the front door and the screens installed. That keyboard drawer is installed on my desk. It feels good.

Moses blessed the people when he saw that they’d completed the task as commanded. What a great example for us. There is a blessing to completing the task we’re given and doing it well. Beyond the blessing there is a level of maturity and character quality that is developed that goes far beyond the household "honey do" list. Each of us will complete the great journey at some point. At the finish line will God bless us and say "Well done?"
